So I downloaded a residential lot for the Sunnyside Strand Beach, and I changed it to a residential lot so that I could add that lot to it, the the little icon thing above the lot just...disappeared. Later, I discovered a little padlock option upon clicking the icon for the beach, saying what the title of this thread says. The thing is is that I don't know this cheat. Do you? If you could tell me what it is, that would be awesome. :'D

Or you can enter "testingcheatsenabled true" and then shift+click on the lot and select "build on this lot"

ctrl+shift+c then type in code 1 hit enter. repeat steps then enter code 2
1: testingCheatsenabled true
2: enablelotlocking trueIn Edit Town click the lot and on the little info thing click the padlock icon to unlock. You can then remove or change the lot type.

I've used this cheat and it works. You just need to be on the lot and not in map view in order to edit it.

Well, this worked but I can't get that downloaded lot onto it.

This cheat unlocks a locked lot. If the lot ios locked. You must first unlock it with this cheat. Then you can change lot type to a different type, or delete it, whatever you want. The other cheat mentioned here works fine just to build, or buy things for the lot.

Oh, I didn't realize that you hadn't added the lot yet. I'm not sure what the issue is.

You have to bulldoze that lot before you can put anything on it!
I had the same problem....took me awhile to figure it out!

Ooooooh thank you!!! Worked perfectly. Now my sims can live on the beach! Yaay!
