Item:Token of the Twelve - DDO wiki (1)

The varieties of Tokens of the Twelve (prior to Update 17). The names are now changed (see article), but the icons are still the same.
(Mouse-hover for pop-up)

Tokens of the Twelve are ingredient rewards you receive from certain adventures in the realm of Eberron that can be used for crafting or to receive special items used in reincarnation.

Before Update 17, these tokens and their fragment counterparts were known as "Epic Dungeon Tokens" or "Token Fragments." The name change appears to have come from distinguishing their origins, as these tokens and fragments only drop from high-level Epic adventures found on the realm of Eberron (original campaign), and not the Forgotten Realms of Faerun, the setting of the Menace of the Underdark expansion, where their Epic level content does not give out these ingredients.

The mechanics of the renamed Tokens work identically to their previous incarnation. Players who possessed tokens or fragments prior to Update 17 will now see these as renamed in their inventory or storage.

Fragments of a Token of the Twelve[edit]

  • 100 Token Fragments can be converted to 1 Token of the Twelve using the Legacy Altar of Epic Rituals in the Twelve. Click the altar, drag fragments into the box, then click "Forge". Fragments are converted 100 at a time, and slowly; a faster method is to speak with Lahar, standing next to the altar (see next).
    • (Standard): Legacy Altar of Epic Rituals success with Token of the Twelve Fragment Combination! Consumed: 100 Fragments of a Token of the Twelve (100). Created: Token of the Twelve (1).
  • 100 Token Fragments can be converted to a Token of the Twelve by talking to Lahar in the Twelve. Choose the first option ("Trade Tokens for Augments") and it can be converted at a faster rate than using the Altar of Epic Rituals.
    • (Standard): Lahar, Epic Trader success with Token of the Twelve Fragment Combination! Consumed: 100 Fragments of a Token of the Twelve (100). Created: Token of the Twelve (1).
  • Epic mobs killed by you or your party have a chance to drop 1 Token Fragment at a time directly into your inventory. These drops only occur inside "old" Eberron epic adventures that support seal/shard/scroll Epic Crafting. (Formerly dropped on the ground in bags in place of collectible drops)
  • Fragments can also be rewarded as loot in these adventures.
  • You can also obtain these from House Cannith's Kaldoth Maz (Challenge Trader, Level 20) in exchange for the Epic Cannith Challenge Ingredients at a rate of 5 ingredients to 1 Fragment or 300 of any one ingredient for a whole Token.

Tokens of the Twelve[edit]

  • Tokens can be used to buy the Update 17 version of augment crystals used by many items throughout the game.
    • Tokens were used as currency to buy the outmoded Epic Augment Crystals (see Epic Crafting) from the < Epic Vendor > Lahar in the Twelve. This type of augment crystal no longer appears in-game. Items that used the old augment system can be converted to use the new slot system with the Stone of Change and dragonshards.
  • 20 Tokens of the Twelve can be exchanged at Lahar for a True Reincarnation token (either a Heroic True Heart of Wood for a class-based past life, or a Heroic True Heart of Blood for a Racial Reincarnation).
  • 1 Token of the Twelve can be exchanged for 1 Purified Eberron Dragonshard Fragment at a Cannith Crafting vendor (choose "I would like to trade essences." from the dialog).
  • Tokens can be obtained as a reward from some more difficult dungeons, in the end reward Epic Chest.
  • You can also obtain these from House Cannith's Kaldoth Maz (Challenge Trader, Level 20) in exchange for the Epic Cannith Challenge Ingredients at a rate of 300 ingredients per 1 token.
  • Bind: Bound to Account
  • Weight: 0.01 lbs

Greater Token of the Twelve[edit]

Greater Tokens of the Twelve replace the "Epic Raid Token" in name. They can appear as Epic end-chest rewards from the Epic raids from Eberron: The Chronoscope, Plane of Night, Zawabi's Revenge on Epic Normal, Epic Hard or Epic Elite difficulties.

There are no Greater Token fragments, instead, the game sets the easier Epic modes to only have a chance at rewarding the token:

  • Epic Normal raids have a decent chance at rewarding a Greater token.
  • Epic Hard raids have a high chance at rewarding a Greater token.
  • Epic Elite always rewards a Greater token. Select raids actually even reward 2.

Greater Tokens are used in various recipes:

  • Trade 5 Greater Tokens for a +1 Exceptional Stat augment from Lahar in the Twelve
  • Combine 5 Greater Tokens with a Voice of the Master and a Mantle of the Worldshaper at the Legacy Altar of Epic Rituals for a The Master's Gift:
  • Use 5 Greater Tokens as part of the cost to upgrade raid items using the Altar of Epic Rituals.
  • 1 Greater Token can be converted to a Token of the Twelve at Lahar.
  • 1 Commendation of Heroism can be converted to one Greater Token at Lahar.

Trivia: Old updates showed a Token floating above an Epic Chest that could be clicked to retrieve it. This floating disk has since been removed with Update 15.

Quest chains that drop tokens[edit]

Tokens are granted only through Epic quests found in the following quest packs:

  • Vault of Night (including Devil Assault and Chronoscope)
  • Web of Chaos
  • The Red Fens
  • Phiarlan Carnival
  • Demon Sands
  • Sentinels of Stormreach

Drop per quest[edit]

Note: This section is somewhat outdated, but only regarding the exact drop rates. Update 14 expanded Epic difficulty into four new difficulties, each of which have different drop-rates for Tokens of the Twelve, Greater Tokens and fragments.
  • Epic Casual: Drops 3-10% of the previously rewarded fragments, never a token.
  • Epic Normal: Drops 11-30% of the previously rewarded fragments. Some very tough epics still reward a token. Monsters generally still have fragments.
  • Epic Hard: Drops 31-60% of the previously rewarded fragments. Some very tough epics still reward a token. Monsters generally still have fragments.
  • Epic Elite: Drops fragments/tokens equal to or more than previous rewards. Some very tough epics even reward 2 or more tokens. Monsters generally still have fragments and drop them at an even higher rate.

Epic dungeons and raids of Eberron award special Epic Tokens/Fragments at the end of quest inside of their Epic Chest. There are several types of them and the type depends on the quest you've completed.

Number of drops vary from quest to quest. Longer ones are supposed to give a larger number of rewards.

(Note: Table needs an update. Need more data on ALL quests -% for fragments, chance for more than 1, etc. Currently it's only updated to list Epic Elite values, and those are very rough. Most of the quests listed will usually drop a Token on Hard, and almost always on Elite.)
Mouse over to view the average amount. Dungeon Token Fragment average amount numbers are based on the average of 1-3 full 6-man parties.
( Minimum - Maximum ) only applies to fragments.
