DDO Points* (aka DP) are a way to pay for various content within the game using the ingame DDO Store, whether you be a VIP, Premium Free To Play or just a Free To Play user. DDO Points were introduced in Module 9. You can gain DDO Points in several ways.

* "DDO Points" were, since the game started, known as "Turbine Points", or TP. This changed during winter of 2016 when Standing Stone Games acquired DDO and LotRO from previous owner of Turbine, Inc., who wanted to switch its focus to mobile game development. After more than a decade of the practice, many veteran players still refer to "TP" etc.

Gaining DDO Points[edit]

Gaining DDO Points depends on what type of account you have.

There are three methods available for gaining DDO Points as a VIP Subscriber:

  • You get 500 DDO Points every month.

Premium Accounts are accounts that have registered a Dungeons & Dragons: Stormreach retail account key, purchased at least one month of VIP status, or purchased DDO Points in the DDO Store.

There are two methods available for gaining DDO Points as a Premium Free To Play account holder:

  • Earning Favor within the game.
  • Purchasing DDO Points using real money.

Free To Play[edit]

There are two methods available for gaining DDO Points as a Free To Play account holder:

  • Earning Favor within the game.
  • Purchasing DDO Points using real money in-game.
    • Note: Purchasing any amount of DDO Points immediately upgrades your account to a Premium Account.

Every character always gains 25 DDO Points for each full 100 Favor gained by that character, for every character you ever make, on any server.

Each character is tracked separately. Deleting a character does not erase the DP he or she earned for your account.

Special First Time Rewards[edit]

You gain a bonus amount of DDO Points the very first time one of your characters reaches certain total Favor thresholds on each server. This is per server, not per character; you can gain each bonus only once per server. There are currently* 8 servers total.

(* plus the Hardcore League server makes a 9th, when it is up. To be clear, the Lamannia preview server does not count; you do not earn DP from favor on Lamannia.)

A common recommendation for earning fast DP is to reach 100 favor on each server. For each server you will earn 50 bonus DP for reaching 5 Favor, and another bonus of 25 each for reaching 25 and 50 favor for the first time on that server. With the standard 25 DP for reaching 100 favor, that's 125 DP for reaching 100 favor for the first time (only) with any character on each server.

You also receive bonuses in addition to the standard +25 DP/100 Favor at certain cutpoints - at 500 favor, 1000, and at every 1000 thereafter (see table).

There are additional in-game rewards for achieving certain cutpoints, not only in total, but also with different factions and with your highest-earning character on each server. (See Favor and Total Favor)

Congratulations! As a special bonus to you in recognition for the first time you achieved ## total favor on the {SERVER} game world, you have been given ## additional Points to spend at the DDO Store!
To enter the DDO Store and start shopping, just click the gold coin icon at the far right of the main menu bar.
The more new quests you complete, the more points you will be awarded. Happy Adventuring!

Monster Manuals[edit]

DDO Points can also be earned by purchasing volumes 1 and 2 of the Monster Manual. For each of the 10 monster types in volume 1 and the 10 monster types in volume 2, 15 DDO Points can be earned as a mid-progress reward and 35 DDO Points as an end reward. These awards are for total number of monsters slain in the category per server. This gives a potential for 1000 DDO Points awarded per server via monster manuals. Note: as of November, 2020, buying both volumes costs 1190 DDO Points, unless on a sale, or if it is a VIP account (Monster Manuals are free to VIP).

Spending DDO Points[edit]

The only method of spending DDO Points is using the DDO Store from within the game. There are many things available that you can spend them on, from Adventure Packs to XP & Loot Boosters. Go to the DDO Store wiki page for a list of items.

Note that there are several items offered in the store that you can earn "for free" by earning Total Favor: access to the Warforged race and the Favored Soul class, Veteran Status for new characters, more backpack and bank space, and so on. The main difference is that favor unlocks "per server" while DDO points are "account wide", across all servers. Depending on the purchase, how many servers you play, and how easy it is to earn that favor, it is recommended to not spend DDO points on things you can get in this way, or at least not early - but that's up to you!

Historical ways to earn DDO points[edit]

Bonus DDO Points for previous play or participating the beta[edit]

Players were given free/retroactive DDO Points if they participated in the module 9 beta, or paid for the game prior to Module 9's release:

  • Retroactive DDO Points if you were a previous subscriber (now known as a VIP). Amount was based on length of membership.
  • Retroactive DDO Points based on the highest amount of favor you had on one character.
  • Bonus Points if you participated in the Module 9 Beta.
  • Bonus Points if you used the DDO Store in the Module 9 Beta.

Bonus sales[edit]

The turbine webstore offered some alternate methods of payment the ingame purchase does not allow.

Special DDO Point offers were available with the purchase of Menace of the Underdark expansion.

  • With the order of the Base edition, You could get during checkout: 2,500 DDO Points for US$23.19 = 107.80 DP/$1
  • With the order of the Standard edition, You could get during checkout: 5,000 DDO Points for US$34.99 = 142.89 DP/$1
  • With the order of the Collector's Edition, You could get during checkout: 11,000 DDO Points for US$59.99 = 183.36 DP/$1.

Following the changes to the DDO market after January 11th 2021, these options are no longer available.
