The ABLE Department providespeople with disabilities a method to save and invest without jeopardizing meanstested benefits and is responsible for educating people with disabilities,their families, and other stakeholders in the disability community about theeligibility criteria, enrollment, and account management process for MarylandABLE accounts. All programs under Maryland 529 are overseen by the MarylandState Treasurer’s Office.

Main Purpose of Job

This position will help supportthe mission of the Maryland ABLE program to promote program growth, providecomprehensive customer support, review materials for aspects of the program,and track budget compliance. This position will assume full responsibility forthe continued growth, coordination, monitoring and analysis of the MarylandABLE Organizational Authorized Legal Representative (ALR). This position will make recommendations tothe Maryland ABLE Program Director based on the results of this development,coordination, monitoring, and analysis.

This position will use knowledgeof plain language and accessibility, as well as critical writing and analysisskills, to assist the Maryland ABLE Program Director to develop the finalproducts for the Maryland ABLE Program Annual Report, Quarterly and End of theYear Program reports, Annual Financial Audit Report, and the Program DisclosureBook, as well as any other marketing materials and publications for theProgram. This position will serve as a representative of the Maryland ABLEProgram at public events.

The Treasury Professional Iclassification is one level in a non-competitive promotion series, in which anemployee may advance in grade and class level from intermediate to a fullperformance, Treasury Professional II through work experience and competency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience in business administration, office management, finance, accounting, economics, or related field.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute education from an accredited college or university or nationally recognized industry certification program, at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of experience, for up to two years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in financial administration and program classification or financial administration specialty codes in the accounting and budget group field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Two of the requiredyears of experience must be in the field of disabilities, providingadministrative functions in a disability agency/company, disability benefits,or direct experience with people with disabilities.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Experience presenting in large groups or at events.
  • Experience or knowledge of disability benefits such as social security.
  • Knowledge of budget monitoring.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in thisclassification may be assigned duties which require travel to off-sitelocations to attend promotional events. Employees assigned such duties will berequired to drive or make travel arrangements to attend the off-site events in the centralMaryland area.

SELECTION PROCESS

Applicants who meet the minimum and selectivequalifications will be admitted to examination for this classification. Successful candidates will be ranked as BESTQUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED and placed on the employment(eligible) list for one year.
