WWE 2K23 has been fantastic so far. But, a lot of players have run into a weird Slow Motion issue while playing the game. According to reports, the game runs sluggishly and at very low frame rates. This is a very frustrating issue that completely ruins the experience. Now, there are a couple of reasons why you might have encountered this problem in WWE 2K23. Folks love to play as their favorite characters and join in various events in the game. WWE 2K23 is the latest title in the series and it has already garnered a big player base. Similar to other recent games, this title is not free of bugs too. One of the most annoying ones is where the game runs in slow motion. Interestingly, this issue has been quite common in previous WWE 2K games as well. When this issue occurs, the graphics render fine but the actual gameplay speed is incredibly slow. WWE 2K23: How to fix Slow Motion Issue?
As we mentioned before, there are a couple of workarounds to resolve the slow-motion issue in WWE 2K23. Below, we have listed all the methods. There are some general troubleshooting tips that will come in handy as well. So without further ado, let us begin.
1) Restart the game and your system-
This is the first thing you should do when you encounter any issue while playing a video game. Restarting the game and your PC/console generally fixes small bugs and glitches. Once you do this, launch the game and check if the issue persists.
2) Update your GPU drivers-
The next step is to update your GPU drivers. Most of the graphics-related issues stem from outdated driver files. So, visit NVIDIA’s or AMD’s website and check if there is a new version available. If there is, then make sure to download and install it on your PC. Then, restart your system and launch the game.
3) Check the system requirement-
It is possible that your PC is unable to handle the game and hence the slow-motion gameplay. You will need the following specs in order to run WWE 2K23 smoothly-
- Intel Core i5-3550 or AMD FX 8150 processor
- 8 GB RAM
- GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 480
- 80 GB available space
4) Turn off timed game updates-
Now, to do this, you will need to open the game’s config file. If you don’t know where it is, then go to This PC and then head over to Documents. Here, open the WWE 2K23 folder and then open the config file using Notepad. Inside, you will find the “timed_game_update” command. It is set to On by default. Just delete On and write Off. Then, save the setting and close the file. Once you do this, try launching WWE 2K23 and check if the issue persists.
5) Rename the config file-
If the issue is still there, then you can try renaming the config file. This can potentially fix the issue. To do this, close the game and then go to This PC. Now, head over to Documents and open the WWE 2K23 folder. Next, right-click on the config file and then select Rename. Now, type config.old and save the name. Once you launch the game, it will automatically generate a new config file.
6) Cap the screen refresh rate-
You can also trigger this issue if your screen’s refresh rate is higher or lower than the in-game setting. So, press the Windows key and type Settings. Now, go to the System tab and click on Display. Next, look for the “Advanced Display settings” option and click on it. Here, scroll down and set your screen refresh rate to 60. Once you do this, try launching the game and check if it is running normally.
7) Use native resolution in the game-
Similar to screen refresh rate, mismatching resolution can also trigger this type of problem. So, press the Windows key and type Settings. Now, go to System> Display. Here, under the Display & Layout tab, check the native resolution of your display (it is marked as recommended). Next, launch WWE 2K23 and make sure to use this resolution under the Display tab.
8) Use Windowed mode-
A lot of players have reported that using the Windowed mode to run the game has solved this issue at their end. So, launch WWE 2K23 and then go to Options> Extras> Graphics Settings. Inside, look for the Windowed Mode option and select Yes. Now, save the setting and check if the game is running fine. You can also hit Alt+Enter while facing the slow-motion bug. This might fix the issue.
9) Turn off V-Sync-
While V-Sync is a very useful feature, it can sometimes interfere with the performance of the game. So, you can turn it off from the in-game settings. To do this, go to Options and then click on Extras. Inside, head over to the Graphics Settings and simply toggle V-Sync to Off. While you are there, lower other graphical settings as well. This will help you to run the game smoothly. You should also cap the FPS to 60 in order to get stable frame rates.
10) Run the game on the dedicated GPU-
This issue is mostly with folks who use a laptop. Often, video games use your integrated GPU to render things. But, since the integrated GPU has less power, you will see lag, slow motion, and stuttering in the game. But, you can simply switch to the dedicated GPU to avoid these issues. There are two ways to do this-
Through Windows settings-
- Press the Windows key and type Graphics Settings.
- Click on Browse and go to Steam/steamapps/common/WWE 2K23.
- Click on the .exe file and then on Add.
- Now, click on the game and then click on Options.
- Select High-Power NVIDIA GPU from the menu and then save the setting.
Through NVIDIA Control Panel-
- Press the Windows key and type NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Go to 3D Settings.
- Click on Manage 3D Settings.
- Go to the Programs tab and then click on Browse.
- Add the game’s executable file through Steam/steamapps/common/WWE 2K23.
- Scroll down and look for the “preferred graphics processor” option.
- Select “High-performanceNVIDIA processor” from the drop-down menu.
- Save the setting and close the window.
11) Verify the game files-
This issue can also trigger due to corrupt or missing game files. So, you need to verify the game files to make sure that the issue is not related to file corruption. Just follow these instructions to do so.
- Launch the Steam Client.
- Go to Library.
- Right-click WWE 2K23.
- Select Properties and head over to the Local Files tab.
- Click on the Verify integrity of the game files option and wait patiently.
- After the scan, launch the game and check if the slow-motion bug persists.
12) Reinstall the game-
If nothing else worked out for you, then your last option is to reinstall the game. This generally fixes most issues. So, uninstall the game and remove all the game-related files from your PC. Then, install the game again.
