In a 5x5 field all you need is 8 wheat for 17 possible growth spots.The chance of a Bakeberry spawning is about 1 in 1139 (base chance is 1/1000, but the chance of wheat/corn spawning instead makes it worse), so with 17 spaces and wood chips, diligently killing all the corn and wheat that spawns, the expected value of the time to spawn one is three generations, which is about 2 hours 45 minutes if you switch to Fertilizer when the wheats are maturing.They're just rare and the other possible things you can get means your plot likes to just get filled up with other junk, so you have to kind of stay on top of it. Use Wood Chips and pray.
Because, remember, Wood Chips are extremely good due to the fact that before, my math puts it at 1/3000, but after wood chip shenanigans, it was a 1/1000 chance. Be aware to switch soils every time.
