How many questions do you have to get right on STAAR to pass? ›

The percent correct 'cuts' to pass (achieve Level II: Satisfactory) for the STAAR EOCs during the spring 2014 administration ranged from 37% (Algebra I and biology) to 54% (English II). The final recommended standard will require students to correctly answer over 60% of the questions correctly.

If a student fails the STAAR test, they may be required to undergo additional instruction and have opportunities to retake the test.

STAAR is a standardized test given in the state of Texas to primary and secondary students. It is state mandated, which means if a public school is to receive funds in the state of Texas, they must give this test and your child is not allowed to opt out of them.

Public school students are required to take the STAAR test, you cannot opt out every year. You must pass each subject of the STAAR test at least once to graduate.
