We’re excited about what he can bring and his ongoing development.”
As for Guzman, Breslow highlighted his strong defensive skills, a trait that made him attractive even before turning professional. “He’s a player we liked back when he was an amateur, thanks to his solid defensive profile, good plate discipline, and consistent contact at the plate. We see a lot of potential for him to grow within our system and contribute at the MLB level down the line.”
Looking at the stats, Samaniego, 26 years old, has spent five seasons in the minors, posting a respectable 3.82 ERA across levels from Low-A to Double-A, while striking out a total of 182 batters. Guzman, at just 22, has an impressive college background, having played at both Arizona and Boston College, where he posted a batting line of .294/.396/.409, with ten home runs and 68 RBIs.
