Love is Blind Japan's Priya is a renowned beauty pageant titleholder (2024)

Priyanka Yoshikawa is joining the empty rooms of Love is Blind, hoping to find her match with a total stranger. However, the Netflix cameras are nothing new to the former beauty pageant holder.

Mizuki is the guy she finds a romantic connection with, despite initially having the hots for Wataru. Things changed over the course of the Japan-based series when Priyanka realised who she really had feelings for.

So, who is Priyanka? We had a scoop through her Instagram and found out about her modelling background.

Meet Priya on Love is Blind: Japan

Priyanka Yoshikawa is a star on Netflix’s Love is Blind: Japan, who has a romantic connection with Mizuki. She has a beauty pageant background and is currently the global ambassador for Smile Asia charity.

Represented by Horipro media and news company, the television personality is a 28-year-old Japanese interpreter from Tokyo, Japan. Her parents are Arun Ghosh, from Bengali, India, and Japanese-born mother Naoko Ghosh.

With a famous link, Priya’s great-grandfather Prafulla Chandra Ghosh was a politician and the first Chief Minister of the Indian state of West Bengal. Born in Tokyo, she later lived in Sacramento, California, from six to nine years old.

Priya, who also lived in Kolkata for one year before returning to Japan, launched her own skincare brand in 2020.

Her beauty pageant career

From 2016 to 2017, Priya held the title for Miss World Japan. She is the second hāfu woman – meaning half Japanese – to be Miss Japan after Ariana Miyamoto, who won the Miss Universe Japan title in 2015.

Before becoming Miss World Japan on September 6th 2016, she worked as a translator and art therapist, and also has a license to train elephants. She competed at the Miss World 2016 pageant on December in the United States.

Placing in the top 20, Priya’s win saw her promise to continue the fight against racial prejudice in Japan. She was just 22 years old at the time of her crown!

A peek at Priyanka’s Instagram

Priya proudly refers to Love is Blind: Japan in her Instagram bio, as well as her list of achievements. We found out that she is the CEO and founder of Mukoomi, a CBD skincare brand ‘rooted in diversity and inclusion’.

From eating out regularly to working out, exercise and food are clearly her passions. We also saw that she follows Billie Eilish and Rihanna, which suggests a pop-filled music taste.

Getting down to the most important part though is that there are no pictures of her and Mizuki on her profile, but this is likely down to not wanting to spoil the series for Netflix viewers, and is usually down to a contract.
