This guide will walk you through how you can increase the Max Players allowed on your server. It's not something that Coffee Stain Studios recommends at this time, but it is possible. Server performance issues can happen when you increase it past the default number of 4, so your results may vary.
The file that we need to edit to allow more players can only be done after you have created the server, claimed it, and chosen the Starting Area.Once you have done so, Stop the server, so you can edit the file required.
Edit the Game.ini
In the File Manager section of your NodePanel, go to the /FactoryGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer directory, and locate the Game.ini file.
Select the file and click on the Edit button, and you will see this view in the screenshot below.
At the end of the file, add:
[/Script/Engine.GameSession]MaxPlayers=x
You will replace the x with the number of players you would like to have on there. Remember to Save your changes!
When you next start your server, it will allow the number of players you've specified.
There have been some reports that adjusting this setting on your client is also needed, though it may be because this is still on the Experimental Build at the time of writing this article.
To edit this on your client, browse to %localappdata%\FactoryGame\saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\ on your PC for Windows. Follow the exact same instructions above for the server, but this time for your client.
