Devils Prospects: Goaltenders shine with shutouts, Hameenaho and Rozsival heat up (2026)

Shutout City! This week, New Jersey Devils fans have plenty to celebrate as two of their top goaltending prospects delivered stellar performances. Let's dive into the details!

First up, we have Jakub Malek, who backstopped the Utica Comets to a resounding 3-0 shutout victory against the Syracuse Crunch. Malek was a brick wall, turning away 15 shots to secure his first career AHL shutout. Talk about making a statement! The Comets' defense was rock solid, and the offense chipped in with goals from Angus Crookshank, Brian Halonen, and Xavier Parent. Prospects Seamus Casey, Topias Vilen, and Lenni Hameenaho also contributed with assists, showcasing the depth of talent within the organization.

And the good news doesn't stop there! Mikhail Yegorov, the netminder for Boston University, also earned a shutout, blanking UMass with an impressive 18-save performance in a 1-0 win. This was Yegorov's first collegiate shutout of the season, and it boosted his record to 10-8-1 for the Terriers.

Around the Pool:

  • Winger Shane LaChance has been heating up lately! While 11 points in 29 games might not seem like a huge number, his improvement from the start of the season is undeniable.
  • Lenni Hameenaho is on fire! He was named one of the AHL's three stars on Wednesday night after a two-goal performance. He's been nearly a point-per-game player since the first ten games of the season.
  • David Rozsival is leading the charge! He's been on a tear recently, and he currently leads all Devils prospects in points and goals across all leagues, with an impressive 14 goals and 24 points.
