Crop and adjust images - Android (2024)

Youcan crop, mask, and add borders to images you have added to Google Docs and Slides.

To adjust colors in Google Docs or Slides, go to docs.google.com or slides.google.com on a computer.

Crop an image in Google Slides

You can trim the edges of an image or remove an unwanted section.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Slides app.
  2. Open a presentation.
  3. Tap the image you want to crop.
  4. At the bottom, tap Crop Crop and adjust images - Android (1).
  5. Touch and drag the border.
  6. When you’re done, tap anywhere else in your slide.

To crop an image in Google Docs, go to docs.google.com on a computer.

Mask an image in Google Slides

To fit an image into a shape in Google Slides, mask the image.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Slides app.
  2. Open a presentation.
  3. Tap the image you want to mask.
  4. At the bottom, tap Crop Crop and adjust images - Android (2).
  5. At the bottom, tap Mask Crop and adjust images - Android (3).
  6. Tap the shape you want.
  7. The shape will mask your image. To adjust your shape, touch and drag the border.

Adjust color and filters in Google Slides

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Slides app.
  2. Open a presentation.
  3. Tap the image you want to adjust.
  4. At the top, tap format Crop and adjust images - Android (4).
    • Tap Recolor to choose a filter.
    • Tap Adjustments to adjust transparency, brightness, and contrast.
  5. When you're done, tap anywhere else in the slide to close.

Adjust a drop shadow in Google Slides

To add and change the color of the drop shadow:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Slides app.
  2. Open a presentation.
  3. Tap the image you want to adjust.
  4. At the top, click Format Crop and adjust images - Android (5).
  5. At the bottom, tap Drop shadow.
  6. Turn Apply drop shadow on.
  7. Choose a color for your drop shadow.
  8. When you're done, tap anywhere else in the slide to close.

Note: To remove the drop shadow, turn Apply drop shadow off.

Add a border to an image

Google Docs

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Docs app.
  2. Open a document.
  3. Tap the image you want to add a border to.
  4. At the top right, tap Format Crop and adjust images - Android (6).
  5. Choose a line color, weight, and dash.

Google Slides

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Slides app.
  2. Open a presentation.
  3. Tap the image you want to add a border to.
  4. In the top, tap Format Crop and adjust images - Android (7).
  5. Choose a border color, weight, and dash.
  6. When you're done, tap anywhere else in the slide to close.

Reset an image in Google Docs

If you want to undo the changes you made to your image:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Docs app.
  2. Open a document.
  3. Tap the image you want to reset.
  4. In the top right, tap Format Crop and adjust images - Android (8).
  5. Tap Reset image.

To reset images in Google Slides, go to slides.google.com on a computer.

Resize or rotate an image

Google Docs

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Docs app.
  2. Open a document.
  3. In the top right, tap MoreCrop and adjust images - Android (9).
  4. Turn on "Print Layout" Crop and adjust images - Android (10).
  5. Tap the image you want to adjust.
  6. You can adjust the size of an image or rotate it:
    • Resize: Touch and drag the squares along the edges.
    • Rotate: Touch and drag the circle attached to the image.

Google Slides

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Slides app.
  2. Open a presentation.
  3. Tap the image you want to adjust.
  4. You can adjust the size of an image or rotate it:
    • Resize: Touch and drag the squares along the edges.
    • Rotate: Touch and drag the circle attached to the image.
