Why Chantilly Lace in a Perfect White Paint Color

Choosing the perfect white paint color for your home can be a bit tricky. There is a lot to consider including the undertones of the paint, the previous wall color, the lighting of your home and more. Here are 5 tips for picking the perfect white paint color for your home.

5 Tips for Choosing the Perfect White Paint Color:

  1. Purchase a sample of the white paint color. Paint swatches and online photos simply do not provide enough clarity about how a white paint color will truly appear in a space.
  2. Apply the white paint color on different facing walls in the room you’re painting. Pay attention to how these walls look at different times of the day before making a decision.
  3. Test out different lighting. A white paint color is going to appear differently if you use a warm white versus a cool white light bulb in the room.
  4. Purchase the white paint color from the actual brand. Color matching whites with other retailers and brands might be cheaper or more convenient, but it is very difficult to accurately color match a white paint color. Oftentimes the wrong color is given.
  5. Take the previous paint color into consideration and apply a primer as needed. If you’re painting on top of a bold color, it’s possible for the tones of this color to influence the white paint color. A primer is often necessary.

Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace

If you’re looking for a true white paint color for your home, Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace might be your answer! Chantilly Lace is a true white paint color without any strong warm or cool undertones. It is crisp and bright, but it still happens to be very welcoming and not an “overwhelming” white. I have used Chantilly Lace in multiple rooms of our home and absolutely love it.

What Kind of White is Chantilly Lace

The LRV (Light Reflectance Value) of Chantilly Lace is 92.2. If you’re not familiar with LRV, this number expresses the percentage of light reflected from a surface. LRVs range from 0-100, the higher the value, the closer a color is to pure white. The high LRV of Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace signifies that this white paint color is a true white and will add significant brightness to a room. Although Chantilly Lace doesn’t have any strong warm or cool undertones, keep in mind that it will still be influenced by its surroundings. This is why it’s important to use a sample of Chantilly Lace on different facing walls and with different lighting before making a decision.

OC-65 Chantilly Lace

Before going any further, I wanted to point out that sometimes you will see two different numbers for Chantilly Lace, OC-65 and 2121-70. Both of these colors are the exact same Benjamin Moore white paint color. Most often, you will see it referred to as Chantilly Lace OC-65 .

White Paint Comparisons

Chantilly Lace vs. Super White

Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace and Super White are very similar paint colors. Their swatches may look almost identical, yet there are some slight differences. They are both true whites, but Super White has slight blue and gray undertones. Chantilly Lace is also slightly brighter than Super White.

Chantilly Lace vs. Simply White

Another similar white paint color by Benjamin Moore is Simply White. The main difference between these two paint colors is that Simply White has a touch of yellow undertones, making it a slightly warmer white than Chantilly Lace.

Chantilly Lace vs. White Dove

Unlike Chantilly Lace, White Dove is not a true white paint color. Instead, this paint is a creamy, soft white with very slight green undertones. If you’re looking for a creamier, less stark version of Chantilly Lace, then check out White Dove.

One of the wonderful things about Chantilly Lace is that because it is such a clean white, it pairs nicely with almost anything! Chantilly Lace White Paint Color in Our Home

I love Chantilly Lace OC-65 so much that I’ve used it in multiple rooms in our home. Most recently, I used this white paint color for our master bathroom renovation. It looks stunning paired with the brass fixtures and natural wood cabinet in this space. I’ve also painted our family room and laundry room in Chantilly lace and love the bright and welcoming vibe it gives off. When we installed the coastal vertical shiplap in what is now Celia’s room, we also had it painted Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace. Clearly, I am a huge fan of this true white paint color!
