Following are some of the standard questions that sorority actives might ask you during recruitment. These are prompts to start a conversation with you. Expand on the conversation, the girls are trying to get to know you and will be unable to do so if you do not talk! The questions will get more serious as recruitment progresses.

Questions Sorority Members May Ask You:

  • Where are you from? What’s your hometown?
  • What dorm are you in?
  • What classes are you taking?
  • Do you have a major already?
  • Did you have a fun summer? Did you travel? What did you do this summer?
  • How are you enjoying rush/recruitment?
  • Have you met your roommate yet? How are you enjoying your roommate?
  • How are you enjoying your first week of school so far?
  • What led you to <this university>? How did you chose <school>?
  • What do you like to do in your free time? What are your hobbies?
  • Are you familiar with sorority life?
  • Why are you going through recruitment?
  • What do you bring to the sorority?
  • Do you have any Greek (sorority/fraternity) members in your family?
  • What are you looking for in a sorority?
  • Do you know anyone at this chapter? At this college/university?
  • Do you see yourself fitting in at this chapter?

The questions below are suggested by former and current sorority actives. Have a few questions to ask at every party in case the conversation lags. These are open-ended questions to spur on conversation! Asking for information lets sorority members know that you are interested and allows you to receive information for your decision. Remember to have a smile on your face and enjoy getting to know new people. Recruitment is not the time to be shy!

Questions to Ask Sorority Actives:

Round 1

How did you choose your song or cheer?

Why did you decide to go to school here?

How long has XX had a chapter here?

What committees are you on?

Do you live in the house? What is it like living there?

Round 2

How did your sorority choose it’s signature charity?

What is your favorite thing to do in the house?

How many hours a month do you spend on volunteer projects?

When was this house built? Who originally lived here?

What is your favorite charitable activity?

Does your sorority participate in a campus wide philanthropic project?

Round 3

How long did youpractice the skit?

Did someone in the sorority write the skit or is it something you’ve done before?

What was your favorite function last year?

What special events does your sorority do during Homecoming?

Does the sorority hold events so the pledges get to know the actives better?

Do you usually travel out of town for formals?

How long did it take to decorate for this round?

Round 4 (Pref night)

How did you choose this sorority?

What is the most special part ofGreek life for you?

How has sorority life helped you?

What is your favorite memory as a pledge?

What are you looking for your new sisters to bring to the sorority?

What makes your sorority unique?
