How much time is required to learn touch typing? ›

Practising 'little and often' (15 -30 minutes a day) works much better than an hour or more once a week. If you practise regularly and don't give up, you should be able to learn to touch type fluently in 2-3 months, maybe even less.

The amount of time required correlates with the amount of time and effort you put in, but at best you should be able to learn to touch type at 40 wpm in as short a period as two weeks.

Pick a schedule to fit ten minutes of daily practice. Commit and don't check your progress every day. Do so once every other day or even once a week. With one hour a day of practice, I was able to take my typing speed to 100 words a minute in five months.
